GEOPRO Partner Joins Turkish Geothermal Energy Association

Tue, 06 April, 2021

Zorlu Enerji, who are partners in the GEOPRO Project, are one of ten founding members of the newly formed Geothermal Energy Association (known as the Jeotermal Enerji Derneği (JED) in Turkish).

Zorlu’s general manager, Mr Ali Kindap was appointed as the president of the association, which was formed in July 2020. Zorlu Energy is one of the three sites used by the GEOPRO Project as it demonstrates characteristic fluid issues of high gas content and scaling that can create operational limitations in geothermal energy production.

The focus of the JED is to increase awareness of geothermal energy, from domestic activities through to international collaboration. Promoting geothermal as a clean, renewable and reliable energy resource, the JED will formulate plans for the use of geothermal in Turkey and further afield for heating, greenhouse cultivation, fishing, mining, drying, cooling and dry ice production, as well as the renewable and sustainable use of geothermal power plants.

JED has also established ethical and working principles with the signing of a Code of Ethics Agreement.

The members of the JED include:
